Milford Founding Families Weekend 2024

The Milford Founding Families 2024 event promises a weekend of connection, history, and celebration. Hosted in Milford, Connecticut, this event will bring together descendants of the town's original settlers for a series of engaging activities and gatherings. Several Milford families were also among the first settlers of Woodbridge so there are many present day connections between the two communities to explore.

Register by July 1 to attend by filling out and mailing in the registration form (click to download the Registration PDF) along with your check for $15 per person attending (children under age 12 are free), made payable to the Milford Historical Society. If you would also like to order a boxed lunch, please be sure to include that cost (additional $16) in your check total (see order details on the Registration PDF linked above).

This event will be a unique opportunity for the descendants of Milford's founding families to delve into their heritage, explore historical sites, and strengthen family ties. So mark your calendars for a memorable weekend of celebration and history July 19, 20 and 21. Here are the details of planned activities:

Saturday, July 20th 2024

9:00 AM: The weekend kicks off with registration and a historical program at the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Avenue, in the Program Room on the lower level (most easily accessed from the rear of the building). This session will offer insights into the rich history of Milford and its founding families.

9:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Attendees can participate in various self-scheduled activities, including cemetery walks, access to the library's genealogy room, visits to the Milford Historical Society at 34 High Street, and tours of the Botsford Homestead at 84 Gunn Street.

11:00 AM: The Botsford Family Historical Association will hold its 120th Annual Reunion, and The Platt Family Association will also hold its annual meeting.

12:00 PM: Attendees can reconnect and share stories over lunch. Boxed Lunch can be ordered in advance (by July 1 - see registration form for details). Alternately, there are several restaurants within easy walking distance, or you may bring a picnic lunch.

1:00 PM - 4:30 PM: Family group photos will be taken on the picturesque Memorial Bridge, creating lasting memories of the weekend.
